About Evgeny Kissin
Evgeny Igorevich Kissin (born October 10, 1971, Moscow) is a Soviet, Russian, British and Israeli virtuoso pianist, classical musician. Winner of two Grammy awards. Kissin is the author of a number of musical works. These include the piano cycle: Meditation, Dodecaphone Tango, Intermezzo, Toccata (finished in 2015), Sonata for Cello and Piano (2016), String Quartet (finished in 2016), Trio for Piano, Violin and Cello (2022). Evgeniy felt an interest in composing music even in childhood, and the impetus for more serious studies in composition was a meeting with A. Pärt. Evgeny Kissin also gained some fame as a writer (writer, poet, reader, translator). Performs with poetry evenings in Yiddish and Russian. According to Kissin himself, since childhood he has had a strong Jewish identity and posts pro-Israeli materials on the website of his fan club. He publishes poetry and prose in Yiddish in the New York newspaper Forverts. In 2017, he published an autobiographical book, “Memories and Reflections.”
