The Center Theatre Group programs two of the halls that make up LA's primary cultural complex. At the north end, the Ahmanson Theatre presents pre- or post-Broadway fare, with seating capacities ranging from 1,600 to 2,100. And in the Center's center, the 745-seat Mark Taper Forum has staged a wide range of new plays over the last 40 years and reopened in 2008 after a renovation. Also part of the Music Center, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion offers occasional dance events. And on the south side of the Music Center's Walt Disney Concert Hall, the forward-thinking REDCAT (aka the Roy & Edna Disney/CalArts Theater; www.redcat.org) includes theater among its many cutting-edge offerings.
