With the spread of the Omicron variant and the number of COVID-19 cases rising, many shows planned for 2022 are tightening up their policies under the government pressure.

More and more venues and concert promoters, now require fans to be fully vaccinated or prove they've tested negative for COVID-19 before they're allowed entry.

If you currently have tickets for an upcoming show, you might want to check to see if there are updated policies about vaccinations.

Here's what you need to know if you're going to a concert with new COVID-19 safety precautions in place:

What are the requirements to attend the concert or theater show?

Every venue has different rules per their state, county or city regulations, but there are similarities in what they're requiring. In most cases, attendees must prove they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and it has been two weeks since they've received the final shot.

Those who aren't vaccinated will have to bring proof of a negative COVID-19 diagnostic test taken within 48 hours before the event. But more and more venues are dropping the test option replacing it with vaccination only entrance.

Recently, "Dead & Company" and "Maroon 5" announced these requirements for their shows at Riverbend Music Center.

In some cases, you'll need to be vaccinated

While some venues are allowing those who aren't vaccinated to bring proof of a negative COVID-19 test, in most cases, soon that won't be an option.

"Dead & Company" required everyone with Pit Tickets to their Cincinnati show on Sept. 11 to prove they have been fully vaccinated. For Pit access only, a negative COVID-19 test won't be accepted.

PromoWest Pavilion at Ovation will only allow those who are fully vaccinated to attend shows after Oct. 1, in line with AEG Presents's new policy.

What proof documents will be accepted?

Security will accept either the original vaccination card, printed copy of the vaccination card, or picture of the vaccination card on the phone, or an international vaccination record with certified english translation with an appropriate ID matching the name on your documentation.

Those who aren't vaccinated will need to bring proof of negative results to security before entering the venue.

Riverbend Music Center said photos of vaccination cards or negative test results will not be accepted, concert goers will need to bring a printed copy.

Can i attend a concert if I'm an exempt from COVID-19 vaccination?

Most venues are are allowing those who are under age 12 to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test result.

Those with a valid medical reason as to why they can't get a vaccine will also be allowed to bring negative test results if they bring a medical note or documentation.

Are Masks Required?

Masks are required at most venues, and they are strongly encouraged. Dead & Company and Maroon 5 said they encourage all guests to wear a mask for the duration of their Cincinnati shows.

Vaccine requirements are tightening up, and most likely will become a norm in the near future. However there's still no single vaccine records database that would provide accurate data on every vaccinated person in USA, thus there's really no way to check the validity of the presented vaccination record and if someone is really eager to go see their favorite band performing they potentially can get creative.
