About Theatrical play СВОБОДНАЯ ПАРА in Boston
Premiere!
Julia Takshina, Sergei Peregudov and Andrei Noskov— in the brilliant tragicomedy "Free Couple" based on the play by the outstanding Italian playwright Dario Fo.
A production designed to remind us: love always proves stronger than any rules.
...Once, a husband suggested to his wife that they live in marriage according to the rules of an "open relationship" — without obligations of fidelity and love. In his opinion, it is precisely this kind of honesty that can keep a relationship going for a long time.
And everything really works out conveniently… for the husband.
Until one day the wife decides to use this "agreement" herself…
Nobel Prize laureate Dario Fo — a master of grotesque, buffoonery, and sharp social satire — transforms a story of marital infidelity into a sparkling, provocative comedy with deep psychological undertones. As the characters recall and "re-enact" their family life before the audience, they grapple with timeless questions about love, freedom, and the limits of compromise.
The "theatre within a theatre" device gives the action a particular edge: the audience becomes witness to a unique courtroom proceeding — a "case of marital infidelity" — where every argument takes an unexpected turn.
Cast:
Julia Takshina— a brilliant, temperamental stage and screen actress, star of the projects "Don't Be Born Beautiful," "The Kitchen," "Balabol," and "Forbidden Love." In the performance, she creates a vivid and multifaceted portrayal of the Wife — from a vulnerable and trusting woman to a strong and independent one, who unexpectedly finds herself playing by her own rules.
Sergei Peregudov— a charismatic stage and screen actor, well known to audiences for his memorable roles in the projects Admiral, The Fall of the Empire, Adjutants of Love, The Gromovs, Shalyapin, Liteyny, Someone Else's Neighborhood, as well as for one of the lead roles in the play Dangerous Games, which toured the United States in the spring of 2026. In Free Couple, he creates the image of the Husband — a confident, ironic, and self-satisfied advocate of "open relationships," whose philosophy begins to crumble when the rules turn against him.
Andrei Noskov— a bright comedic actor, a fan favorite known for the cult series "Who's the Boss in the House," as well as the projects "Provincial Detective," "The Foundling," "Morozova," whose powerful dramatic talent North American audiences were able to fully appreciate in the production of "Perfumer" (2023–2024 tour). In "Free Couple," he masterfully portrays the role of a family friend — a man who has long been, and seemingly hopelessly, in love with the main heroine. His performance gives the production a special dynamic, humor, and additional depth.
Free Couple" is a play about how dangerous it is to play at freedom without being prepared for its consequences.
And about the fact that love is always more than a contract.
