Many years ago, two sisters — the elder (Elena Ksenofontova) and the younger (Darya Poverennova) — fell in love with a young artist, German (Alexei Grishin). His heart belonged to the younger one, but the elder interfered: she married him herself and took him away to another city.
Years passed. On one cold snowy evening, on the eve of the New Year, the elder sister calls the younger one and approaches her with an unexpected request — she wants her to become German's wife…
And the younger sister agrees.
