Since the early 1990's, FEDOR (Fedor Chistyakov) has been known as the songwriter, front singer, and accordionist for the band Nol’ (Zero), a cult model of Russian rock music. His unique manner of singing and the fact that he played button accordion, an instrument atypical of rock music at the time, made the band stand out, to the extent of being featured as exemplary in Western documentaries on Russian Rock. He is at the same time quite a sophisticated and insightful composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist musician, whose creative interests embrace rethinking classics and producing experimental instrumental music of many genres and styles.
SPRING-2018 TOUR presents FEDOR joined by NY-based bass guitarist GENE FELDMAN, and two old allies from Russia. VANYA JUKE is a powerful blues and Roma seven-string guitar player. GARIK B. is a famous funk drummer, one of the best ones at home, and well-beloved, just as Vanya, in this country. Particularly, their collaboration with Fedor has already made the American audience count days for them to strike again.
The tour supports Fedor’s new album EMIGRANT SONG and showcases the unique passionate drive that we love and have grown to expect from this great artist, the legend of RUSSKY ROCK’N’ROLL.
“Fedor Chistyakov is one of the only musicians today that can convince audiences to accept the accordion as a rock instrument” -Rolling Stone, Russia http://www.rollingstone.ru/music/interview/23147.html
