About TATYANA VOLTSKAYA. Meet the Author in New York

On November 12, we are hosting Tatyana Voltskaya — a poet, prose writer, essayist, author of seventeen poetry collections and two books of prose. A person for whom literature is a way of speaking about what matters most: memory, love, history, freedom, and human dignity. At the meeting, we will talk about two books at once — the brand-new "Glass Pavilion" and the poetry collection "In the City of November.

In the City of November" is a selection of poems from ten years, from 2015 to 2025. It is not just a collection of verses, but a unique poetic diary of an entire decade. There is no usual division here into love, philosophical, and civic lyrics. Everything is intertwined, as in life itself, where we love, raise children, take care of everyday matters, rejoice, worry, live through historical upheavals, and try to understand what is happening around us.

Voltskaya's poems don't chase literary fashion. They hold direct speech, sincere emotion, a keen sense of time, and a remarkable ability to find poetry in life itself.

«The Glass Pavilion» is the new prose by Tatyana Voltskaya, a deeply personal story in which the reader unexpectedly discovers their own past.

Tatyana Voltskaya is a laureate of numerous literary awards, including the Zvezda magazine prize and the "Stray Tram" (Zabludivshiysya Tramvay) competition. Her poems have been translated into many European and Asian languages, and an excerpt of her prose was shortlisted for the WLT Pushcart Prize in 2023.

Tatyana works at Radio Svoboda, and since 2023 she has been leading a poetry workshop at Svobodny University. Since 2022, she has lived in Georgia. Her anti-war poems have been included in Russian and international anthologies, as well as in the collections "Deserters of the Empire" and "You Will Survive".

On November 12, we will talk about literature and life, about memory and time, listen to poetry, ask questions, and chat with the author. Such meetings are a wonderful opportunity not only to discover new books, but also to hear the writer's living voice and feel the intonation that the printed page does not always convey.

Participation fee: $10.

And a reminder: our hall is very cozy, but quite small. The number of seats is limited, so please purchase your tickets in advance to be sure to attend the event!
