About KATYA KAPOVICH. Meet the Author in New York
On November 8, Katya Kapovich is our guest — a poet, prose writer who writes in Russian and English, a professor at the Free University, the author of sixteen books, and a person with an amazing literary destiny. At the event, we will talk about two of her new books at once — very different in mood, but equally fascinating!
Let's Talk in Silences" is a book-conversation with friends and readers whom life has scattered all over the world. About the distances that separate us and the invisible threads that continue to connect us. "Maybe they, too, like me, are holding a silent conversation with me. If so, then I am here, in this book," says Katya herself.
The Siskin from House Number 16" is a cheerful, mischievous, and slightly fantastical story about a girl named Chizhik, her friends, and incredible adventures. A secret laboratory in the courtyard, mysterious scientists, dad's experiments with hypnosis, a grandfather from America, and an entire summer ahead! A book about childhood, when the world is full of wonders, and an adventure may be hiding around every corner.
A little about the author. Katya Kapovich has lived in Boston since 1992, writes poetry and prose in two languages, and takes part in international literary festivals. In 2001, she was awarded the Library of Congress Prize for mastery in English-language poetry, and in 2007 she received a fellowship from Amherst College and the position of Poet at the College.
On November 8, we will talk about books, memory, childhood, distances, and people who stay with us even when they live on the other side of the world, and, of course, listen to the author, ask questions, and chat!
Participation fee: $10.
We remind you that our hall is very cozy, but quite small, so the number of seats is limited. Please purchase tickets in advance to be sure to attend the event!
