Dmitry tells us what to expect at the event:
“I will read poems with commentary of a biographical, socio-historical, and poetological nature. I believe that art in general, and the art of poetry in particular (regardless of themes and plots, however dramatic or even tragic they may be), has the most direct relation to the state of a person that is usually called happiness. All of us today have too many reasons for despondency – poets, as best they can, resist despondency. As one of Singer's eccentric tsaddiks used to say: “Maybe hell is also paradise, only in disguise”
Dmitry Vedenyapin is the author of 14 poetry books, a translator of poetry and prose, and the author of lectures and seminars on literary craft. He is a laureate of several literary awards, including the Big Prize “Moscow Score” (2010) and the “Poetry” Prize (2018).
