По песням Юрия Шевчука и ярким выступлениям его группы можно изучать историю современной России с её резкими, непредсказуемыми поворотами. Песни ДДТ - это не просто музыка; это летопись современности, история и душа страны. Музыкальный язык группы за годы кардинально менялся, варьируясь от ритм-энд-блюза до джаза, индастриала и инди-музыки. Острые социальные проблемы выражаются в нотах философской лирики. За долгую творческую жизнь ДДТ выпустила десятки популярных альбомов и гастролировала по стране и миру с несколькими крупными концептуальными концертными программами, широко использующими современные мультимедийные технологии. Группа известна своими оригинальными видеоработами, созданными с известными режиссёрами и художниками не только из России, но и из разных стран.
