Russian rock, born under strict Soviet censorship and total prohibitions, and surviving during the transformative time of perestroika in the late 80s and early 90s, is unimaginable without the band DDT. It has always occupied a special niche in Russian rock and music as a whole. Through the songs of Yuri Shevchuk and the vibrant performances of his band, one can study the history of modern Russia with its sharp, unpredictable turns. DDT's songs are not just music; they are a chronicle of contemporary times, the history and soul of the country. The band's musical language has changed dramatically over the years, ranging from rhythm and blues to jazz, industrial, and indie music. Acute social issues are expressed in notes of philosophical lyrics. Throughout its long creative life, DDT has released dozens of popular albums and toured the country and the world with several major conceptual concert programs that widely utilize modern multimedia technologies. The band is known for its original video works, created with renowned directors and artists not only from Russia but from various countries. They compose music for film and Yuri Shevchuk has published two poetry collections to date. The band is also actively involved in charity work, among other endeavors. No matter what happens in our complex, fragile world, Shevchuk's songs always offer two important things for contemporaries in any corner of the earth: truth and hope. Perhaps this explains his phenomenal popularity over the decades.

Русский рок, родившийся под строгой советской цензурой и тотальными запретами, и выживший во время трансформационного периода перестройки в конце 80-х и начале 90-х, невозможно представить без группы ДДТ. Она всегда занимала особую нишу в русском роке и музыке в целом. По песням Юрия Шевчука и ярким выступлениям его группы можно изучать историю современной России с её резкими, непредсказуемыми поворотами. Песни ДДТ - это не просто музыка; это летопись современности, история и душа страны. Музыкальный язык группы за годы существования кардинально менялся, варьируясь от ритм-энд-блюза до джаза, индастриала и инди-музыки. Острые социальные проблемы выражаются в нотах философской лирики. За долгую творческую жизнь ДДТ выпустила десятки популярных альбомов и объездила страну и мир с несколькими крупными концептуальными концертными программами, широко использующими современные мультимедийные технологии. Группа известна своими оригинальными видеоработами, созданными с именитыми режиссерами и художниками не только из России, но и из разных стран. Они пишут музыку для кино, а Юрий Шевчук на сегодняшний день издал два поэтических сборника. Группа также активно занимается благотворительностью среди прочих начинаний. Что бы ни происходило в нашем сложном, хрупком мире, песни Шевчука всегда дают современникам в любом уголке земли две важные вещи: правду и надежду. Возможно, этим и объясняется его феноменальная популярность на протяжении десятилетий.
